God has amazing plans and purposes for his church. We may not always see them, and we sometimes feel weak and discouraged, but Ephesians is all about what’s true of Christ and his church, even when we can’t easily see it.
This letter shows off the scale and power of what God has done and is doing through Christ in the church. The truths are mind-blowing: they’ll strengthen us to live as his people, whether we feel discouraged or encouraged!
At this year’s Midlands Women’s Convention Kirsten Guthrie will help us dive into the big picture of Ephesians. We’ll consider the glorious reality of a church strong in Christ and how we live in that strength, together as his church.
We’d love you to join us this year, as we sing, pray, listen to God’s Word and enjoy a great day out together with other women. Why not invite some friends to join you for the day? MWC is suitable for women aged 14 and above. We hope to see you there!
speaker
Kirsten Guthrie
Kirsten is from Northern Ireland but has lived over 25 years in London (that and a Scottish mum is the reason for a slightly mixed accent!). She’s part of the church family at Trinity Church Islington and has spent the last 14 years there as Women’s Worker. Since September 2024 she’s combined that with working at The Proclamation Trust as Assistant Director of Women’s Ministry. When she’s not working, she can often be found cycling, spending time with friends or entertaining godchildren.
Seminars
(choose one)
Speaking Wisely
Anne Macgregor and Ruth Strange
Words are powerful. We know that from experience: a single sentence can buoy us up, or puncture our good mood in a moment. And we also know that from theology: God spoke the world into being! On a human level, as those made in His image, our words have power too. Our words do things. This session will explore what the Bible has to say about how to use the power of words wisely, and what that might look like, practically, in our everyday conversations.
Faithful Friendship
Abi Coward
Friendship is a wonderful gift from God and something that he calls us all to enjoy. But friendships aren’t always easy to form or grow. In this seminar we’ll be thinking about what the Bible has to say about friendship and how we can follow the example of the most faithful friend, Jesus Christ. If you feel that you have many friends or very few, come and see how the gift of friendship can be used for our good and to the glory of the Father.
Tackling Temptation
Catherine Russell
Temptation can pop up at any time, whatever stage of the Christian life we find ourselves in. Where does it come from and why do we find it so easy to give in? Thankfully, whatever temptations we face, the Lord gives us hope and help. Come along and find out more about where temptation comes from, what tools God gives us to fight it, and the hope he offers us when we fail.
