This year at Midlands Women’s Convention Sophie Cornes will be speaking to us about Gideon from Judges Chapter 6 to 8.

The Book of Judges is often a favourite with primary age children – full of swords, strength, adventure, intrigue, and even death on the loo. Right in the thick of it is Gideon, a rather reluctant leader of God’s people: God chose Gideon and promised great things through him, then took Gideon’s small army and made it even smaller. Come and find out more about Gideon’s God and how He still chooses weak people to serve and glorify Him.

We’d love you to join us this year, as we sing, pray, listen to God’s Word and enjoy a great day out together with other women. Invite some friends to join you for the day.

10ofthose is providing us with a huge bookstall so you can take MWC home with you. MWC is suitable for women aged 14 and above.

Book online from 1st June.

MWC East on Saturday, 4th October 2025 at Cornerstone Church, Nottingham. MWC West on Saturday, 18th October 2025 at Renewal Solihull.

We hope to see you there!

speaker

Sophie Cornes

Sophie works at Christ Church in Southampton helping to teach the Bible to women with a particular focus in student ministry. She loves the opportunity to see the impact of God’s word in groups or 1:1. In her spare time she enjoys going for walks with friends, attempting a creative project or playing badminton poorly.

Seminars

(choose one)

Reading the Old Testament Today

Anna Watkin

Left-handed assassins, talking donkeys, fiery furnaces, vicious kings, extraordinary rescues… the Old Testament is both stranger and far more wonderful than we might expect. We often find it hard to understand & harder still to know what God is teaching us. How do we make sense of it all, and what does it mean for us today? Come along whether you’re new to the Bible or have been reading it for years as we help each other delve into the wonder and richness of God’s Word to us.

How God Guides Us

Liz Cox

Our days are full of decisions both small and great. Decisions about time, money, jobs, relationships, holidays, what to watch and what to eat. How will we make decisions which please our heavenly Father? Should we put out a fleece like Gideon did? This seminar explores how God’s Word helps us with the choices that every day brings.

Trusting Christ in our Weakness

Adele Guest

Feeling weak? Suffering, insecurity, aging, feeling unworthy – we can sometimes feel that we are too broken for God to use us. We feel that other people are much better choices to be used by Him. Come and meet faithful, ordinary yet extraordinary women whose stories are not special because of what they do but what they can’t do. Join us in our conversation as we consider how to choose to trust Christ through our weakness.

Seminar for 14-18s

Jess Cobbett (East) & Chloe Harrison (West)

Our youth seminar is for young women aged 14-18 to spend time together thinking through some of the issues that Gideon’s life brings up. This seminar is led by experienced youth leaders.
