Seminars
Glorifying God... in what I say - Liz Cox
"I wish I hadn't said that!" "I should have said..." How often we wish we could change what we say and how we say it. Our words can give life when we share the Gospel. But the tongue can also be "a restless evil, full of deadly poison". What does God’s word say about our words? We’ll take an honest look at what we say and why and see how our words can better bring glory to God.
Originally from Sydney, Liz is married with three children and is the Family and Children’s worker at her church. In quieter moments she enjoys films, cappuccinos and Lebanese food.
Glorifying God... in what I pray - Barbara Sherwood
'God bless Sue....' If God knows everything and has already planned out everything that happens, why bother praying? And what do we mean by 'bless' anyway? This seminar will look at what the Bible says about prayer, particularly with regard to evangelism, not to discourage us at our prayerlessness but to make us want to pray more, and more confidently!
For many years Barbara, her husband and children lived in Nigeria as missionaries. Now based in London, they encourage church leaders around Africa in small group and one-to-one discipleship. Barbara enjoys the great outdoors, a good book and 70+% chocolate.
Glorifying God... in the midst of doubts - Jo McKenzie
"Lord, I believe! Help my unbelief!" Many of us can relate to that cry for help. Many of us will know people who struggle with doubts. We do trust Christ yet all sorts of doubts rise up in our hearts from time to time. Why do we doubt God? What makes doubt grow? What effect can doubt have on us and those around us? How can we learn to "doubt our doubts" and turn times of doubt into times of spiritual growth and strengthened faith?
After a number of years working with UCCF supporting Christian students, Jo is now studying full-time for a PhD researching contemporary Christianity and social class at Durham University. Jo is married and enjoys cooking for friends, reading and being part of a local book group.
