Morning Seminars
| 1 | Helen Roseveare | (Default Option) |
| Helen gives her amazing testimony in person, looking back on how God has used her around the world for his glory. |
||
2 |
Honouring our parents in old age | Ann Benton |
How far do our responsibilities towards our ageing parents extend? And more crucially, how are they to be managed in the middle of a busy life? This seminar examines some pitfalls and practical strategies.
Its aim is to encourage those for whom caring, at some level, is a present reality or a future prospect. |
||
| 3 | Empty arms: responses to childlessness | Ellie Margesson |
Most women expect in marriage to have children, but many face disappointment. For some, conception is difficult, or they experience miscarriage. How can we find comfort or give support to such women? This seminar will look at some of the issues we should consider and what the Bible says about them. |
||
| 4 | How much should I look for marriage? | Andrea Trevenna |
We apply for jobs, we shop for shoes, is it OK to search for a soul-mate? Our consumer culture offers many options which are available also to Christians. How shall we evaluate these options? Is there a place for a single girl to be pro-active? |
||
| 5 | Entertaining strangers: challenges and opportunities with foreign visitors | Rebecca Griffin |
Throughout the Bible, God told his people to show particular care for those who were alien and vulnerable. We are surrounded by people who are strangers in our land. This seminar will look at some of the issues involved and equip us to demonstrate God’s kindness to such people. |
||
| 6 | Alone again: the aftermath of death, desertion or divorce | Jacqui Wright |
Many women for different reasons find themselves in the same position as Ruth and Naomi. How, in the aftermath of the death, desertion or divorce of your man, do you pick up your life and carry on? |
||
| 7 | Faith at work: Christ at work | Rachel Browning |
We are Christians wherever we are, including our daily workplace. This seminar will help us regain our vision for work, both in how we work as Christians and in making the most of it as a unique place, our own mission field. |
||
| 8 | Opening up the Old Testament | Caroline West |
Do you find yourself avoiding large chunks of the Old Testament because you just don’t get it? How do you apply the lessons of Old Testament stories to 21st century life? There are some important principles we can all learn that will help us deal more confidently and carefully with the word of God as written in the Old Testament. |
||
| 9 | The sovereignty of God and our responsibility | Leonie Mason |
| One of the great truths of Ruth is that God controls both the big events of history and the personal history of individual lives.
Is it therefore pointless to pray, evangelise and seek to change anything? No! This seminar will explore how both God’s sovereignty and human responsibility work together. |
||

| 1 | Praising the Sovereign God | (Default Option) |
| Lizzy Smallwood leads as we learn more about the sovereign God from Psalm 130 and have extended time to sing His praises. |
