For the last three years we
have been running two identical
conventions, in order to meet
the demand. 2008 will see a
move to the ExCeL Centre in
London's Docklands, a venue
which will enable us all to be together for one
event, united in the praise of God and a desire to
learn from his Word.
We hope that the ExCeL Centre will provide
some of the things you have told us have been
lacking in former years. There is a lot more space and
there are plenty of coffee shops and loads of toilets!
But in essentials the day will be made up of
all the ingredients we have appreciated in the
past: excellent Bible teaching, uplifting singing,
stimulating seminars.
We shall be learning from the story of Ruth
and Naomi. These two women experienced
both the bitterness of pain and loss and the
sweetness of friendship and faithfulness.
We shall
be observing how their stories are woven into
the greatest story of all, God's eternal plan of
salvation. Those of you who have heard Carrie
Sandom before will be delighted that she has
agreed to teach us from this book of the Bible.
We are also thrilled to be able to welcome
to the platform for a main seminar, Dr Helen
Roseveare, who will tell her own story of God's
dealings with her as a missionary in war-torn
Congo and afterwards serving him at home and
abroad into her ninth decade.
Another new feature will be the opportunity
to participate in an extended time of praise and
reflection drawn from a Psalm.
This is a day not to be missed. And this is a
great year to invite family members, friends, those
who have never been before as well as those
who have, to join you. Book early to get your first
choice of seminars!

Pray For Each Other!
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God...”
Colossians 1:9,10
Paul prayed for the Christians in the Colossian church that they would grow in knowledge of his will in order that they may live a life worthy of the Lord. With this in mind let’s pray three things for LWC 2008:
1. For all the women who come this year, that they would grow in the knowledge of God’s will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. For each and every woman to be encouraged to live for Christ.
2. For all the main speakers and seminar speakers and especially Carrie Sandom and Helen Roseveare in their preparations. Pray that they would speak clearly and faithfully from the Bible.
3. For wisdom for the LWC committee working to produce the Convention for the first time at ExCeL. Above all that the Lord would be glorified by the Convention at all times. |
