CHANGES TO JOINT CONVENTION (MARCH 13, 2010)

December 3rd, 2009

Christian Conventions is today announcing details of a significant change to the advertised London Men’s / Women’s Convention on March 13, 2010 at ExCeL. Rather than having two separate Conventions, men and women will now join together for the full day.  The proposed children’s programme has been dropped.  These changes have largely been taken in response to feedback from partner churches.  We are looking forward very much to an uplifting, helpful and challenging day in March as we learn more about God together.

Fuller details are below and we would be really grateful if you could filter news of these changes through to others in your churches.  We very much hope that you will be able to join with us on the day!

Flyers will be available by early January at the latest and bookings will open at that point too. Please keep checking this website for updates.

NEWS RELEASE

Men and women join to clear up “THE GOD CONFUSION”

The London Men’s and Women’s Conventions are joining together for the first time for a special one-off event on Saturday 13th  March 2010.

A top line-up of speakers, including Tim KellerAl Stewart and Rico Tice will be part of a programme designed to help us understand how the Gospel is relevant and trustworthy in our modern age.  Short, punchy optional seminars during the day will examine some of the key questions people have about the Christian faith, including suffering and the reliability of the Bible. The talks and presentations will be accessible and approachable to fringe church members, and those who are not yet Christians.

Conventions Chairman Richard Coekin says: “We’ve listened and prayed and developed the programme so that it will be most useful to people coming and bringing friends along with them. Churches told us of their concerns that guests will not easily come for an early start and that the women want to share the men’s programme. So now the day is a combined Conventions day in support of the Passion for Life Mission that starts later, and builds in more time for relaxed conversations.

“The sessions are aimed at equipping Christians for their mission but will also be completely suitable for “church fringe” members and those sympathetic to Christianity. We dropped the proposed children’s programme to concentrate upon the highest quality combined and familiar adult programme with world-class speakers, rousing singing, personal testimonies and lunch-time seminars providing answers to the questions that unbelievers ask. We are confident that The God Confusion will be a brilliant day for both Christians and their guests.

“We are expecting a day packed with our loyal convention crowd, plus many sympathetic friends and work colleagues.
We are hearing huge enthusiasm for these changes and we are glad to continue serving the local churches in this way.”

The God Confusion Saturday 13th March 2010 will be held at ExCeL London from 10.15 to 3.30
